Afdlin Shauki : The one in a million person.

Afdlin Shauki, or also known as Chief Kodok is a multi-talented Malaysian writer, director, screen and stage actor, comedian, singer and songwriter. Till this day, he have write many plays and have make a name for himself in the Malaysian entertainment industry.

Film Career

As a film actor, his local debut was as part of the supporting cast for Pesona Pictures’ “Mimpi Moon, which was followed by his role as the “Interpreter” in the Hollywood movie “Anna and the King”.

He has enjoyed tremendous popularity since his first romantic lead in Serangkai Filem’s “Soal Hati”, and was honoured with a Best Actor award for his portrayal of “Daniel” at the Anugerah Skrin Panca Delima Awards. He has since filmed “Soalnya Siapa?”, a continuation of the story, which has also been popularly received.

In 2004, he debuted as a writer, director and as well as film actor in one movie which is "BULI". The film was produced by Grand Brilliance. In 2005, he was awarded Most Promising New Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Story for his work at the Malaysian Film Festival.

In most of the film, his character potrayal is unique. As for his work as a director, the way he conveyed a message through his work is truly amazing. Almost all of his work make the viewers who watched it feel that it can be something that they can relate. His unique thinking of delivering a message still mesmerized me up until this day. I've never miss watching any of his work. His career as an actor also amazes me as he managed to go international like starring as an actor in the Singapore sitcom comedy, "Phua Chu Kang".

 His idea for a to make a movie is something that not a lot of people think and the movie that he directed is not a typical Malaysian movie. Some might even say that he is on par with the late P.Ramlee himself but that thought is for you to decide. For me, Afdlin Shauki is my idol.
